Nydia Vela'zquez's Cuba War Powers Resolution (H.Con.Res. 106). In a letter sent this week, the groups call on the House to vote to end the de facto US oil blockade on Cuba, which they argue amounts to hostilities that Congress has not authorized."Cuba is suffering through a man-made economic and humanitarian catastrophe, caused in significant part by deliberate policy choices of the United States," the organizations wrote.The privileged resolution -- which can be called for a vote without Speaker Johnson's approval -- directs the president to remove US Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Cuba absent congressional authorization. They delivered ballots in USPS official mail boxes asking the Governors to deliver ballots uninterrupted like past election years. "Postmaster General, Board of Governors, you get to decide, will millions Americans have their ballots tossed out or do Americans still get to pick their own leaders. Can you commit to us, to the public today, that you will mail every ballot out and not cave to Donald Trump's political demands?" asked 24 year old Georgia voter Alex Ames. "Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We are in a private meeting. We appreciate the feedback," said Board of Governors Member and Chair Amber F. McReynolds. "We understand it's a meeting but this is also an emergency. Ballots have already started getting mailed out..if all these ballots get tossed out potentially young voters, potentially millions of people might not have their ballots delivered," continued Ames.
