Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) is a U.S.-based organization of physicians and health professionals that advocates for a single-payer national health program (described as an improved Medicare for All) to achieve universal coverage and comprehensive benefits. PNHP develops and promotes policy proposals and legislation, publishes reports and research on topics such as Medicare Advantage, Medicaid managed care, pharmaceutical policy, and the financialization of health care, and communicates findings to the public and policymakers.
PNHP organizes and supports local chapters and student chapters, runs membership and outreach programs, and provides member resources (webinars, handouts, slideshows, speakers bureau, and annual meeting materials). The organization conducts surveys (for example on moral injury among physicians), produces campaign materials and toolkits, coordinates advocacy actions (lobby visits, letters to editors, legislative outreach), and engages in media and public education to advance single-payer health policy.
PNHP also publishes news and analysis (news categories, reports, and briefs), convenes events and trainings, and produces targeted reports and campaigns aimed at state and federal policy changes (for example work on Medicaid managed care contracts and support for the Medicare for All Act).
